Disclaimer

This site is meant to inform, not replace the relationship you have with your own care team. Here's what that means in practice.

Not medical advice

What I share here comes from my professional training in public health, my experience supporting hospital births in Baltimore, and general research. It’s not a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or medical advice for your specific situation. Always talk with your provider about questions specific to your pregnancy, birth, or health, and don't delay seeking care because of something you read here.

What a doula does and doesn't do

As a doula, I provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support. I don't diagnose conditions, prescribe or administer medication, perform clinical exams or procedures, or interpret monitors or test results on your behalf. Those are the responsibility of your OB, midwife, nurses, and the rest of your clinical team. My role is to help you understand and communicate with that team, not to replace it.

Reading this site doesn't make you a client

Browsing this site, reading a blog post, or sending me a message doesn't create a doula-client relationship. That relationship starts once we've formally agreed to work together.

Hospital-specific content

Some content on this site reference patterns I've observed at specific hospitals. These reflect my own experience and should be read as personal observation, not verified hospital policy. Practices vary by provider, by unit, and over time. Always confirm current policies directly with your hospital or provider.

Client stories

Some content includes stories or examples drawn from my work with clients. Details in these stories have been changed and combined to protect the privacy of the families I've worked with. Any resemblance to a specific person or situation is not intended to identify anyone.

Testimonials

Testimonials and quotes on this site are shared with the permission of the clients who wrote them, and are genuine, unpaid feedback, not compensated endorsements. I don't use anyone's name, photo, or identifying details without their consent. Every pregnancy and birth is different, and one person's experience isn't a prediction of what yours will be.

External links

I sometimes link to outside sources that I trust and find helpful. Linking to a site isn't an endorsement of everything on it, and I don't control or take responsibility for content on sites I don't run.

No guaranteed outcomes

Every pregnancy, labor, and birth is different. Nothing on this site is a promise about how your birth will go, and following any suggestion here doesn't guarantee a specific experience or outcome.

Content ownership

The writing and other original material on this site are mine. Please don't reproduce or distribute them without asking first.
